Making your first moves in Ludo

Make Ludo your next activity in the game library. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Read the objective before making your first input. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Something to practise

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Notice the feedback after each input.

What counts as success

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Making your moves

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Making selections and moves

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

Try this example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Look for the relevant detail.

Check this before moving on

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Compare the situation with the worked example. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
